A pressure transmitter (or pressure transducer) is an electronic device, typically with an external display, which measures and controls pressure. It is used in combination with a pressure sensor and voltage-to-current signal conditioner to generate a proportional output to the pressure it is reading, such as 4–20 mA or 1-5 volt (or other type) output signal. This proportional pressure signal can be fed to a distributed control system or other control to continuously manage the operation of a pumping system. A pressure transmitter provides a top-of-the-line solution to your process instrumentation needs, and is our recommended solution to pressure measurement. For the purpose of constructing your own pressure transmitter, or to achieve a more inexpensive solution, you may instead be interested in a simple pressure gauge or a pressure switch.
